Home rest for two days and relative rest and no physical exertion for 10 days.

  • You can not drive any kind of vehicles or use dangerous machinery until 72 hours after the intervention.
  • You can not drink alcoholic beverages until after the first three days.
  • Abundant hydration (water, juices, syrup…), despite the discomfort when swallowing.
  • Bland and cold diet for about 10 days. Avoid eating foods that may open the surgical scar, such as french fries or bread crust. You should not eat very hot food. In case of severe pain when swallowing, take the analgesic 20 minutes before meals.
  • It is normal that sometimes when swallowing liquids, part of them can pass into the nose, this situation disappears in a few days.
  • It is normal that the first or second day after surgery you may have a few tenths.
  • It is normal for the ears to hurt.
  • If there are erosions on the lips, treat them with petroleum jelly.
  • You should follow the treatment with antibiotics and painkillers that you were given at discharge.
  • If there is any pain, treat it with petroleum jelly.
  • If you were taking aspirin or another antiplatelet agent before the procedure, you should consult with your doctor about when to restart the treatment.
  • If you have bleeding from the mouth or have abundant traces of blood in your saliva, cervical rigidity or high fever (greater than 37.5ºC), you should go to the emergency room or contact your doctor.
