  • From the moment you are discharged from the hospital, you must rest at home for the first three days after the operation, and you will avoid physical effort such as lifting weights.
  • You can not drive any kind of vehicles or use dangerous machinery until authorized by your doctor.
  • You can not drink alcoholic beverages until after the first three days. Your diet will be soft and moderate for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid loud noises and noisy environments. You should not wet your ear and you will not wash your head until your doctor authorizes it.
  • You may not travel by plane until at least one month after surgery.
  • You will avoid sleeping on the operated side.
  • You may stain the cotton or bandage with some blood on the first day and more lightly for a few more days.
  • It is normal to notice mild to moderate instability that may be uncomfortable; if so, rest in bed or in an armchair and take the indicated medication. Some mild to moderate tinnitus is normal. It is normal to notice poor hearing or resonance of your own voice.
  • Perform movements smoothly, especially getting up and lying down, and be accompanied if you need to go down stairs and notice even slight instability.
  • Sneeze without covering your nose and with your mouth open; if you have to blow your nose, do it gently and one side at a time.
  • You may have some discomfort or slight pain that will subside with the indicated painkillers.
  • Avoid constipation; if necessary you may use a mild laxative for a few days.
  • You should contact your doctor or go to the Emergency Room in case of very intense dizziness with vomiting and/or very intense ringing in the ear, especially if it starts abruptly, as well as in case of very intense pain that does not subside with the recommended painkillers or fever above 38ºC.
