From the moment of discharge, the patient must remain at home for the first three days after the operation. He will avoid physical exertion, such as lifting weights, for one month.

  • You may not drive any kind of vehicle or use dangerous machinery until 72 hours after surgery.
  • Avoid talking for the first 72 hours and then avoid long conversations for a week. When you start talking avoid straining your voice, as well as whispering. Avoid the telephone.
  • Avoid dusty, smoky, and noisy environments.
  • Normal diet, slightly soft and warm, when swallowing, do it slowly and in small amounts.
  • It is normal to stain the saliva with blood but in small amount and occasionally, not continuously.
  • Watch the breathing, if it is difficult or noisy you should go to the emergency room.
  • For pain, take the indicated painkillers.
  • If you were taking aspirin or another antiplatelet agent before the procedure, consult your doctor about the time to restart the treatment.
  • In case of fever higher than 38ºC go to the emergency room or contact your doctor, as well as in case of severe pain, bleeding or respiratory distress.
