  • From the moment you are discharged from the hospital, you must rest at home for the first two days after the operation.
  • Avoid physical exertion, such as lifting weights for two weeks.
  • You can not drive any kind of vehicles or use dangerous machinery until 72 hours after surgery.
  • You can not drink alcoholic beverages until after the first three days. The diet should be soft and moderate for the first 24 hours after surgery.
  • It is normal to have a dry mouth due to the inability to breathe through the nose, as well as some pain and swelling that will subside with the painkillers we have given you.
  • It is advisable to sleep a little incorporated.
  • In case of having to sneeze, he/she will do it with the mouth open.
  • It is not advisable to blow the nose in the first 3 days; afterwards, if the tamponade allows it, you can blow the nose very gently, without forcing if you find it difficult.
  • Constipation should be avoided; mild laxatives should be used if necessary.
  • Some blood and secretions will ooze from the tamponade. This is normal. If it is comfortable, you can place a gauze pad under the nose, secured with paper tape, to catch the secretions and change it often.
  • It is normal to have watering eyes and a feeling of stuffiness in the ears.
  • If you were taking aspirin or another antiplatelet agent before the operation, you should consult your doctor about when to restart the treatment.
  • In case of abundant bleeding by nose or mouth, very intense pain that does not yield with the recommended analgesics, fever superior to 38ºC, or visual alterations or of the conscience you will go to Urgencies or to contact your doctor.
