From the moment of discharge, the patient must remain at home for the first three days after surgery. Avoid physical exertion such as lifting weights.

  • You may not drink alcoholic beverages until after the first three days.
  • The diet will be soft and in moderate quantity the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid sleeping on the operated side.
  • You may stain the bandage with some blood the first day and more lightly for a few more days. You may have some feeling of instability or moderate buzzing.
  • Moderate buzzing.
  • Effect movements gently, especially when getting up and lying down, and do not make any sudden head movements.
  • Sneeze without holding your nose and with your mouth open; if you have to blow your nose, do it gently and one side at a time.
  • Sneeze without holding your nose and with your mouth open.
  • Avoid constipation; if necessary you can use a mild laxative for a few days.
  • You may have swelling of the lower eyelid of the operated ear.
  • You should contact your doctor or go to the emergency room in case of very severe dizziness with vomiting and/or very intense ringing in the ear, especially if it starts abruptly, as well as in case of very severe pain that does not subside with the recommended analgesics or fever above 38°.
