Serous or seromucous otitis media

Serous or seromucous otitis media (OMS) is a condition characterized by the presence of mucus in the middle ear without signs of acute inflammation.

It is the most common cause of hearing loss in children, especially in the first 6 years of life and is most prevalent in winter.

WHO can resolve on its own or can be treated, but if the mucus persists in the middle ear, it can lead to complications, mainly related to hearing loss, both in adults and especially in children who are acquiring language, delaying speech development.

Depending on the time of evolution and the clinical condition of each patient, medical or surgical treatment may be chosen.

In the Centro Integral de Otorrinolaringología (CIO) we are experts in this pathology and we have the best diagnostic and therapeutic tools to solve the WHO.
