Dysphonia, or voice alteration, by Dr. Ana Araujo

Dr. Ana Araujo, otolaryngologist at the Centro Integral de Otorrinolaringología (CIO), explains the symptoms of dysphonia or voice alteration and reminds us that it can be present in up to 75% of at-risk groups of voice professionals (teachers, singers, radio announcers…):

“Dysphonia or vocal alteration is a very frequent symptom in the general population.

It can reach 75% in risk groups of voice professionals (teachers, singers, radio announcers…).

As it is the main vehicle of communication available to us, its alterations produce a serious affectation of the quality of life.

The causes of dysphonia or vocal alterations can be due to a wide range of pathologies such as vocal nodules, gastroesophageal reflux diseases or even laryngeal cancer.

They can affect from children to older populations and at the Centro Integral de Otorrinolaringología (CIO) we have the first and only voice laboratory that allows the correct and quick diagnosis of these alterations and the most appropriate and personalized treatment for each type of patient.
