Cervical lymphadenopathies, by Dr. Fabián García

Dr. Fabián García, ENT specialist at the Centro Integral de Otorrinolaringología (CIO), explains the approach to cervical lymph nodes or adenopathies:“Adenopathies, more commonly known as lymph nodes, are structures of the lymphatic system involved in the immune response. They are present in large numbers in the cervical area where they generally go unnoticed in the healthy individual. It is when they increase in volume that we notice them, either because we notice or see a lump in our neck.

On many occasions these increases in volume of the adenopathies are related to inflammatory or infectious processes of the upper respiratory tract and normally, once the original condition is resolved, the adenopathies disappear. On some occasions, the adenopathies are associated with more serious processes or diseases such as chronic inflammatory diseases or tumors of the head and neck.

At the Centro Integral de Otorrinolaringología (CIO) we have extensive experience in the management of the pathology associated with the appearance of cervical lymphadenopathies and we have all the diagnostic means for their correct evaluation and treatment.
